Hip-hop is dead. If this were true, I wouldn’t be where I am today, especially in this business. Hip-hop is a culture. It’s the life that we breathe and glamorize. Whether it be the rims on your whip, the ice on your wrists, them rubber band wrapped around your c-notes, or whatever it may be, it’s a part of our lifestyle we consider as art. It’s not just music that’s being portrayed by. It's the gutter where we grew, the struggles we been through, it's the way of surviving the streets. Nope. Hip-hop ain’t dead. It's alive and well. The world can be cold out there when you’re hungry and broke. So naturally, my dreams had to come true and fast. From selling bootleg flicks to hustling anything I could get my hands on, I just had to get paid. Only I had bigger plans for the future. I had to switch up my game a bit. I started working for the video game industry learning the basics of business and how things are done in the professional world. This also made me re-think my options by making money legit and educating others around the way to stay hood, but make way out of the hood so we can all be successful and come back to offer back our wealth to the hood. This is my dream now, and a purpose in life. This label is built on my struggles growing up. I had my share of pain and sufferings, but my ambitions never died. RIKOCHET LIMITED™ was founded by "Rikochet" and close friend S.T., with a mere dollar and a dream, and was established in the summer of 2006 and formally began to operate in fall of 2006. After failing numerous attempts at starting a business venture with the right investors, Rikochet found himself to be eager to stick around and see his vision die. He left his home in Queens, NY with one of his soon to be business partner and relocated to California for a better hire. With less than $2000 in cash and no employment awaiting him, Ricky Kim took a deep step forward to the west coast.
Equipped with his sense to survive and his desire to reach success, he wasted no time finding several employment opportunities with low wages. After residing in California for about a year, the two hopeful entrepreneurs encounter their third eminent investor Ms. L. Having no experience running an official business, the three individuals applied their specific knowledge and started implementing their thoughts to plan their structure. The idea was to create a street wear line blending in a sense his own former lifestyles and creativity in every tees.Most importantly, the founders wanted to do more than just sell clothes, they wanted to contribute unique designs and add reasons behind their art so that every shirt carries a description. This is the type of passion and dedication these founders wanted to pour onto every RIKOCHET LIMITED™ brand apparels. To show love and respect for the people who grew up tough. We did too.
